PAIN IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM -
PAIN IS A SYMPTOM OF YOUR PROBLEM!
WHY CHIROPRACTIC CARE?
- Works with the body's natural healing abilities;
- Gets to the causes of the problems, does not just mask the symptoms;
- No potentially harmful drugs;
- Misaligned joints (subluxations) can cause nerves to malfunction;
- Fully functioning joints make the nervous system function better:
- The nervous system controls all body functions;
- There is a very close proximity of the spinal joints and the main nerves exiting the spinal cord;
- The correct functioning of nerves:
- Can reduce/eliminate pain
- Can improve mental function
- Can improve immune function
- Can improve internal organ function
- Can improve energy levels
- Can help release tight muscles;
- Makes the joints and muscles function better.
WHAT CAN CHIROPRACTORS TREAT?
At Cummings Chiropractic, we adjust subluxations. These are some of the most common complaints which can be caused by subluxations:
- Low back/pelvic pain ("hip" pain)
- Mid or upper back pain (thoracic pain)
- Chest pain (involving the ribs or sternum / breastbone)
- Neck pain
- Headaches (of almost every type)
- Pain / numbness / tingling (or other altered sensation) in an arm or leg
- Sciatica (pain down the back of the leg)
- Extremity joint pain (jaw, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot)
- Carpal tunnel symptoms
- "slipped" discs
- muscle spasms
With very few exceptions, anyone with a spine can be treated. This includes the elderly, pregnant women, children and infants.
WHAT DO CHIROPRACTORS DO?
Chiropractic is a natural form of health care. We work with the natural healing capabilities of the body. We do not use drugs or perform surgeries. We do not give injections. We attempt to help your body work as close to 100% as possible. We mainly try to make the joints work properly. Because of the close proximity of the spinal joints and the nerves coming off the spinal cord (which is housed within the spinal column), an aberrant position or function of a spinal joint can put pressure on a nerve or the surrounding tissues and make it malfunction. That malposition / malfunction is technically called a "subluxation" by chiropractors and often called a "fixation" for short. A subluxation can also stimulate local receptors around the joint itself and can cause localized symptoms, the most obvious being pain. Chiropractors will attempt to locate the offending joints and get them moving correctly again by performing a "chiropractic adjustment." This is a physical force (usually a very fast push or "thrust") put into the joint.) By definition, no one but a chiropractor can give a chiropractic adjustment. Others perform manual manipulations. Chiropractors can perform manual manipulations, but others cannot perform chiropractic adjustments (a horse is an animal, but not all animals are horses). While almost all chiropractors adjust the spine, many (including Dr. Cummings) work on all joints in the body.
